Dynamic Compaction & Consolidation
These techniques are methods of ground improvement for improving
'marginal' or 'made ground', treating it to ensure a uniformity
in improved bearing capacity and settlement control, thus enabling
the construction of high level lightly reinforced foundations
and ground bearing floor slabs.
Compaction is typically used on granular sites and consolidation
for use on cohesive fill or moisture susceptible environments.
Consolidation treatment usually requires a provision of effective
and suitable drainage points.
Both these techniques reduce the need for deep foundations and
therefore help to reduce overall cost and the cost of site disposal.
It is particularly beneficial on large areas, or where pre-bored
stone columns may be required.
